I’m so sorry for lack of updates…
Just over a week ago, we lost our beautiful Stormy.
No one is really sure why, but a week prior he began having trouble standing up. We immediately took him to the vet, and the vet gave us some pills he was sure would work. In a matter of day, Stormy became immovable and we resorted to carrying him everywhere.
Even up to the very last night he was with us, he had so much energy. I had to lay in his bed with and hold him down all night because otherwise he would drag himself everywhere he wanted to go. It was so painful to watch.
Hoping it was something fixable, we took him to the vet as soon as they opened. They kept him most of the day, trying everything possible on him. All sorts of techniques they hoped would work – they were really confused as there was nothing on his x-ray and they don’t believe it was related to the amputation what-so-ever.
The vet called us back later that day and asked us to come in. There was nothing they could do and they explained that Stormy would never walk again.
We had to make the hardest decision, a decision we had wrongly thought we would never have to make and let Stormy go.
It’s been extremely hard on the entire family, even Patch (who always hated Stormy) was a sad puppy all week.
Stormy had the biggest personality and showed us he was a fighting right up until the end.
Since then, several dogs have turned up in our area – alone and lost, no owners that we could track down and uncared for, that we have found loving homes for.
My mom says she thinks Stormy is leading them to us, knowing they’ll be as loved and cared for as he was.
I don’t think I’ve cried quite this much in a very, very long time.
Goodbye, Stormy 🙁 I love you so much <3
This is one of the last photos I was ever able to take of Stormy 🙁

We were SO proud to our Storms on the Tripawd FB page on Triday!
Happy LATE Triday everyone!
Sorry for the rather late post, things have just been CRAZY around here and I don’t find much time to just sit down and write.
Mr. Stormy is just two days away from his three week ampuversary and we’re super excited!
A little concerned that he still pants quite a bit and has the occasional yelp, but we will ask the vet about that later this week at his check up!
Besides those little things, Stormy is still doing awesome! And now that the snow has finally cleared, he can go and run outside as he pleases. Which he is ecstatic about.
The mission to find Stormy doggy clothes has been fruitless so today we’re going to go to the toddler section and get him some toddler clothes. I’ve cut almost all my band tees to fit him and alas… he’s manager to completely tear them all lol

Stormy, bright eyed on his way to the vet 😀
I’m so sorry for the lack of updates!
Especially after the last update being concerns about Stormy. Not to worry though, all is well with the boss 🙂
He stopped throwing up after that day, I suspect my cream-cheese ploy to get him to take his pills was the culprit, oops!
He went to his vet appointment and Dr. Walsh was EXTREMELY impressed with Stormy, so much so that he took his bandages off. Yikes. It really irked us the first day but we’ve gotten used it and after cleaning his stitches with warm water a couple of times, I don’t mind touching them anymore.
More snow has hit us here in Wichita, KS. Definitely making it hard for us to just let Stormy out, but he’s loving the snow – which would be by I’m outside in it with him every hour freezing just so he can prance for 10 minutes, not pee, then come back inside. Lol.
We’ve been looking for clothing for him, but because his chest measurement is 27, it’s been difficult.
We found a hoodie – it’s a bit big but he likes it and a shirt, but the shirt ended up not fitting so now we’re web surf!
Also, next week he will be rocking a Tripawd bandanna off this very site 😀
Stormy is rockin’ his giant hoodie!

We got a substantial amount of snow here in Kansas today (lots more coming tomorrow)!
We were a little worried about Stormy going out in it, but he didn’t stop barking until we opened that door and let him go for it. Luckily there was no ice today, there should be a lot tomorrow though.
He is getting a little over confident, he’s started trying to go up the steps he has conquered in different ways, corners are so bueno for him. He had another tumble today when he attempted to hop up the corner of the step and wiped out a bit in the snow. But he got right back up!
I think all of us worry more about him falling than he does when he does fall.
He has yelped again today, seems like he’s had more yelps in the past couple of days than he did the first two, but still no more than two a day.
Tomorrow is Stormy’s week ampuversary!!

Had the scare of my life today!
Stormy has been doing great going up and down all the steps around our house. Sometimes he has to take his time, but for the most part he’s doing awesome.
He was in his dog house earlier (which we took the roof off of so he could turn more easily) and instead of going out the door, he hopped right over the side, it was nice to see him getting more confident.
The scare came about an hour ago when I took him out front for the thousandth time tonight. He went down the steps just fine, we said goodbye to Sam as he went off to work and had a little walk. On the way back up the steps, Stormy got a little overconfident and fell OFF the steps and landed between the steps and a plant pot.
I freaked out and tried to grab him, but the determined dog decided to jump up quickly and try to JUMP from the ground to the second step.
No dice.
He fell between the step and pot again, with his back leg stuck up on a step. I was FREAKING out.
Again he got himself back up, stumbled for a second so I picked him up and carried him in, terrified he had damaged another leg. I put him down on the carpet and… he was fine. He galloped off after shaking himself and even though he had JUST been outside, demanded to go back out.
What a resilient little thing he is 🙂
Rockin’ the WSU shirt
